RJTF Movie Night
The Racial Justice Task Force invites you to Movie Nights at MAPC this summer. To accommodate out-of-town weekend plans, the summer Movie Nights will be on Wednesdays rather than Fridays.
We will be screening segments of The 1619 Project. The 1619 Project was first published in 2019, 400 years after the first Africans were brought as slaves to the United States. The project has appeared in book, podcast, and live event formats, and now, as a multi-episode documentary which we will be viewing together this summer.
We will meet at 6:30 pm for pizza, salad, goodies and beverages, and at 7 watch the film. Then we’ll have an opportunity for discussion before we head home.
Please come join in – your presence and your thoughts make us all richer!

RJTF Juneteenth Walking Tour
Would you like to know about important sites in our great city that shaped the lives of enslaved people? What, you say - in New York City? We were the abolitionists! We were the Good Guys, right? That last phrase is the subtitle in the New York chapter of Clint Smith’s How the Word is Passed, the book we will use to inform our tour.
Come join in for a 90 minute tour in lower Manhattan on June 19th, a national holiday, at 11 am, led by fellow MAPCers that will uncover information and emotions that could influence us even today. We’ll gather for a coffee or lunch afterward. Please sign up using the link below!

RJTF Movie Night: Till
MAPC’s Racial Justice Task Force is sponsoring a Movie Night at the church Friday, January 13th, at 6:30 pm. We will meet for pizza, salad, dessert, and beverages, and watch a screening of “Till”.
In 1955, after Emmett Till is murdered in a brutal lynching, his mother vows to expose the racism behind the attack while working to have those involved brought to justice. Till does not depict Emmett’s murder, but focuses on his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley’s, fight for justice.
One member of our task force said he’s been reluctant to view this film. Others may feel that way, too. Here is an opportunity to experience this important work together with our MAPC family. Discussion will follow. Please join in! Sign up here for this free (donations accepted) event so we’ll know how much food to order.
