Praised by The New York Times for having “traversed the palette of emotions” with “gorgeous tone and an edge of-seat intensity,” cellist Andrea Casarrubios returns to the Music on Madison series with pianist Audrey Abela in performances of Manuel de Falla’s Siete Canciones Populares Españolas, Three Pieces for Cello and Piano by Nadia Boulanger, and works by Chopin, Bartók, Foley and Casarrubios.

ensemble132 has created its own piano quartet arrangement of Pulcinella, highlighting the cornucopia of flavors and characters that this wonderful piece has to offer. The other work on the program is Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E-flat, a dramatic work that weaves together many of the melodies and textures that Dvořák found in his extensive exploration of folk music.
