Saint Andrew Chorale sings Tippett’s A Child of Our Time

The Saint Andrew Music Society’s 59th Season continues!

The Saint Andrew Chorale & Orchestra performs Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time next Sunday, April 14 at 3 pm.

English composer Michael Tippett was inspired to compose the work in the wake of Kristallnacht and completed it during the first years of World War II. One of the twentieth century’s most powerful and innovative oratorios, Tippett’s call for world peace and justice for the oppressed integrates five moving African-American spirituals into the musical texture.

Singers from In Harmony of the New York City Children’s Chorus will join our own Saint Andrew Chorale, soloists Katherine Wessinger, Helen Karloski, Marc Molomot, Max Tipton, and a full orchestra. Tickets are available in advance at mapc.com/sams or at the door.
