Canon: How Did We Get the Bible and Is It Reliable?

On February 25 after worship in Parish Hall, Rev. Hinkley will teach this class on how the Bible came together. What books almost did and almost didn’t make the cut, and why? How early were the New Testament books considered scripture? Who made decisions about what was included? How reliable is the manuscript evidence, and what are the issues with it? What happened during the Reformation? We’ll talk about all this and more, and end with a conversation about what it means in Reformed theology for the Bible to be the Word of God.
