For September 19th we are going to read the 1619 Project the NY Times did in 2019. Some of us have read it, and some of us have never read the whole thing. Since Nicole Hannah-Jones just went through that tenure ordeal at UNC and decided to go to Howard, and since the teaching of “Critical Race Theory” has become such a hot-button issue, we thought it would be good to read or re-read this. You used to be able to buy hardcopies of it from the NY Times, but it doesn’t seem to be available any longer. It is being published as a book that will be released mid-November. So for now, if you don’t already have it, I think the only way to read it is as the PDF on the above link.
