Mask Optional Worship
Dear friends,
After two and a half years of Zooming, the session met in person Tuesday evening! As I shared with a friend, “I was very pleased with how the meeting flowed: thoughtful conversation punctuated by laughter and surrounded by a warm sense of community.”
Early in the meeting, we voted unanimously to move to a mask optional policy for worship, and we entrusted the Music and Worship Committee to develop appropriate safety protocols for musical performances. (Of course, if you are more comfortable wearing a mask, then, please, by all means do so!)
As evidenced by the significant rise in activity in our city over the past six weeks, the pandemic no longer limits us as it once did. To be sure, COVID is not over. I am aware of friends as well as members of our church who have very recently been quite ill with the virus, and the death rate of a COVID infection is three times as high as the flu. If we face the surge of a new variant, we will once again take every measure to ensure your safety to best of our ability. However, today I am thankful, thankful for
Your remarkable creativity and adaptability
Your depth of resilience
Your acceptance of multiple opinions and perspectives
The emergence of a vibrant and growing young adult ministry
Your embrace of the increasing number of guests who worship with us Sunday.
And, I am thankful that for the first time I will actually see your faces during worship.
