Lenten Sermon Series

Dead Friends,

As we journey though Lent to Jerusalem, we will be guided by Paul’s letter to the Galatians. Over the next six weeks, we will explore Galatians chapter by chapter. This form of preaching is called lectio continua. John Calvin often followed this format in Geneva.

In this letter Paul writes to congregations that had been led astray by outside agitators, and Paul is beyond frustrated. He is exasperated! I chapter 3, he even writes, “You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?” In part, Paul is angry because they distorted what it means to be the people of God.

How might Paul’s letter, then, help us to grow in our understanding of being church together? Is diversity really that important? How might Christians celebrate the gift of freedom? During Lent we will explore these questions and many more. Here is our preaching schedule. You might find it helpful to read the appropriate chapter a couple times during the preceding week.
